Decorative Art Ⅰ
HYO SOOG HWANG, She examines the influence of ceramic decoration in her work.
Firstly through the idea of proportion and secondly through the exploration of the pure visual look of the decoration and the emotional psychological responses to the visual motif.
It is her opinion that the application of ceramic decoration should consider both, scientific and psychological aspects of decoration. These combine together in her work to create pieces which have coloured glazes and the form of a rose
She analyzes the balance and sense of completion of an artwork and decoration in her practical work and continue other self-directed experiments

Decorative Art Ⅱ
The flower motif has been intimately entwined with man’s life from the very first and it is universally accepted that man feels and appreciates the symbolic meaning of the flower. Therefore, the usage of the flower has been repeated over time and became a representative symbol of beauty.
Her practical work shows that the transformation of a rose’s visual beauty into decorative art allows the rose to express harmonized beauty. Moreover, the formative function of the rose is expressed through its delicate shape, color, and form.
.
The forms her have made are purposefully in order to make the rose image. Each of the leaf-like elements have been made on the potters wheel, cut from the symmetrical bowl and put through several processes; the aim of this experiment is to understand what results, in a psychological sense, when these pieces are contained in a scientific aspect, that of strict symmetry, by the potters wheel.
